Day-cation in Solvang
Today we drove up to Solvang for the day. It is a little Dutch town in the Mountains above Santa Barbara. It was super quaint. We originally wanted to eat a smorgasbord, but we couldn't find an affordable one, so we ended up eating at The Belgium Cafe. I ordered a Belgium Waffle (when in Rome) with fruit. It was yummy. We then walked around looking at various sites, shops and museums. We went to the Hans Christian Anderson Museum. He wrote many of the childhood fables: The Little Mermaid, The Princess and the Pea, The Swan Princess, The Ugly Duckling, and The Emperor's New Clothes. We also indulged ourselves in a Raspberry Danish from the famous Mortenson's Bakery. It was a fun little day-cation.
I love Solvang! One of my mission companions is Danish, so we brought her to "Little Denmark" when she came to visit me. She got a kick out of it.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog - your pictures are excellent!
ReplyDeleteI love your recent visitors widget too (although I may be a little biased) - but it needs to be shown off a little higher ;)
