We took a last minute trip up the coast to Santa Cruz and San Francisco this weekend. Nathan found a killer deal on a hotel right in Fisherman's Warf, so we thought, why not? This time, to shake things up, we took a little detour to the Santa Cruz boardwalk before heading into the city.
I had never been there before, so it was cool. Unfortunately, we didn't get to spend much time there because we got rained out! We were able to squeeze in a few rides and chow down on some carnival food before we left.
On our first night in SF, we stayed down in Fisherman's Warf. We ate dinner at The Rainforest Cafe, watched the sea lions, who were actually really active, rode the carousel, and Hudson jumped on the bouncer. One of the fist things he asked when we told were going to SF was if he could do the bounces. He loves it.
That man behind Jayde with the camera was obsessed with her and took tons of pictures of her. It was harmless and kinda cute.
For dessert, we enjoyed a delicious ice cream sundae at Ghiradelli.
The next day, we rode the cable cars across town, picked up lunch and took the BART to Dolores Park in the Castro district. This park is known for its epic view of the city. Nathan and I took turns eating and watching/playing with the kids.
On Friday night, we went to the Giants game. It was so windy, but pretty chill. The stadium has a big, fun slide for the kids so Hudson was occupied the whole time with that and Jayde hung out with Nathan and me. We found a spot right next to the slide and hung out and ate. It was cold enough to enjoy a cup of Ghirardelli hot chocolate.
The last time we were in SF we discovered their Farmer's Market at the Farry Building and loved it! So we decided to make a stop before we headed home. We picked up some freshly picked strawberries and fresh apple/pomegranate cider. We also got a few of the most delectable and perfect empanadas. One was prosciutto and fontina and the other was beef and green olive. Hands down, one of the best foods I have ever enjoyed. We also got an Italian sandwich from our favorite delicatessen. After lunch, we headed home. It was a quick, but fun-packed trip.
We are already planning out next visit.
Sometimes the most fun trips are the impromptu ones. Was the ghredelli (misspelled) chocolate exceptional or average?
